Faja (Womb wrap)

The faja (fa-ha) is a cloth band, often worn around the upper hips and waist to support the uterus as a womb wrap. It takes the weight of the womb when it feels heavy, which allows the body to repair uterine ligaments, and increase circulation and nerve supply to the organs and surrounding tissues. It can also be used to hold a castor oil pack and/or heat pack in place over the womb, liver, or lower back / kidneys.

The Natural Beginnings fajas come in 3 different sizes:
Small – 2.5m for sizes 6-10
Medium – 3.3m for sizes 12 – 16 and small pregnant women
Large – 4m for plus sizes and medium to large pregnant women

We currently have the following designs*:

~Balinese Dream (Limited Edition) – made in Bali with linen, Balinese batik and 3 snaps on the pocket – Small size only!
~Serendipity – Small | Large
~Hippy Stripes – Small | Large
~Purple Bouquet – Large
~Yellow Rose – Large
~Trees Of Gold – Medium
~Stella Flora – Medium
~Mother Of Swirl – Medium

*Panel designs are limited due to being made from upcycled materials (with the exception of the Balinese Dream which is new material), and may not have all sizes available. Photos may not exactly match designs as there can be some variations in fabric. New designs will be added as these designs run out.

Washing instructions: Hand wash or dry clean only.

Product Information

The Natural Beginnings fajas are designed and hand sewn in Australia using cotton calico + up-cycled fabric, so every piece is unique. The front panel provides extra support and features a specially designed “pouch” to hold a heat pack for added warmth, either for use during menstruation or labour for pain relief, or for when using a castor oil pack for detoxifying and reducing inflammation.

The optimal time to use a faja is:

    • After a Mizan Therapy session, to help keep the womb centred after her misalignment has been corrected
    • To hold your castor oil pack and/or heat pack in place over your womb or your liver
    • To hold a heat pack in place on your lower back
    • Pre-menstrually when your uterus feels heavy
    • During your period to hold your heat pack in place when experiencing pain
    • During pregnancy when your belly feels particularly heavy
    • When you have a “pendulous” belly in late pregnancy or during labour which can be common after multiple previous births when the core abdominal muscles have become lax, and is a sure sign that the baby’s head is deflexed and stuck on top of the pubic bone instead of engaging deeper into the pelvis for birth
    • During labour to hold your heat pack in place
    • After birth to assist the uterus to return to its pre-pregnancy position
    • To improve posture when breastfeeding
