The Closing The Bones ceremony is practiced in many traditional cultures all around the world, in some form or other, but is most recognised in the Mayan culture.
This ceremony helps, relax, re-align and release tension from the body and pelvis, allowing the mother to feel nurtured, held and at peace, bringing the spirit back to the body to energetically close the birthing chapter.
It is usually done within the first 40 days after birth, but can be done at any time after birth – I have performed this ceremony for mothers who have given birth many years before, as it is still so beneficial.
This ceremony helps to realign the bones and muscles, guiding the bones back into place, helping the pelvic organs shift and the uterus to shrink back down, as well as stimulating blood flow, relaxation and muscle tension release.
But it also has a spiritual benefit, in allowing the mother to process her birth and postpartum, to heal emotionally and gain strength. It helps her find closure to her birth story and find her center again, to connect to her new body so that she can have increased confidence as a woman and mother.
Virginia has spent 4 days in training* with traditional Mexican midwife Naoli Veniver who taught this special postpartum ceremony over 2 days. As part of this ritual, Virginia also adds her own flavour by give acknowledgment and gratitude to each of the body parts and chakras that have played their part in the baby’s conception, and the mother’s pregnancy, birth and postpartum processes. This includes the infusion of reiki and energy healing, so that the mother is left feeling contained, whole, nurtured and healed.
The Closing The Bones ceremony is $180, or can be included as part of the Holistic Postpartum Nurturing Session.
